Training Day 12: I have the dorkiest tan.

Total Distance: 55 miles. Average: 12.5mph

Boy is my tan looking freaking AWESOME. I know that with the 80s back its just a matter of time before two-tones take hold. And I’m two-toning it, no doubt. I’m going to have to take some pics of my awesome glove tan and lines on my legs.

Finally today the wind let up. This gave me a LOT of confidence, as I zipped down a road at 20mph that I just last week struggled at 13. I was also relaxing with a coffee when a guy started chatting with me about his tour of the Pacific Coast. Apparently he worried a lot about his training and then when it came to the actual trip he zoomed by with 100-mile days. Right now 100-mile days seem in the same category as unicorns and executive-level-pay-at-home. I’ll keep training like a freak.

So I traveled around to Mt. Lemmon, did a mile up that, headed over to Saguaro East, then a couple miles towards Vail. Then over to the coffee shop and Summit Hut for some bags. I (sadly) have ditched my backpack for a dry sack, as it is not very efficient spacewise. I would’ve had to get rid of it anyway, because I need to use water-proof bags. All my items are now safely tucked in dry sacks and zip-lock bags, and I have a tarp/ground sheet to keep torrential downpours from ruining my day.

Overall a confidence boosting day. And on to Peppersauce Campground tomorrow for more adventures!
