So it is entirely possible to bike to Peppersauce Campground! And so here I am, sitting watching something like 15 hawks zig-zag across the sky. I tried getting them to come over here by offering chili, they’re not fans.
Today’s ride had a phenomenal amount of tailwind. The first of training! This helped counteract the ~3000 ft elevation gain. But the last 3 miles of hills, headwind, and dirt road was not fun.
I’ll have to see about posting to Bikely but the gist is that the trip from Tucson is up/down hill. Once you are outside Tucson it is almost entirely uphill. Finally when you get to the middle of Oracle you get a respite. The final 4 miles is all dirt. I was able to make it without issue but it is eally mountainous. Some killer uphills. I wouldn’t recommend road bikes, but its doable. We’ll have to see how fast I’m able to get back tomorrow.
