Training day 17: Ostriches and buffaloes

Distance 58.5 average 12.1

Yesterday was some kind of ‘over the hump’ day where I biked a solid (almost) 60 without too much trouble. The first 8 miles I was sandpapered with a mild headwind but went and checked out Rooster Cogburn’s Ostrich Ranch. Ostriches are like big prehistoric chickens. Big, dumb and hungry. I’d throw some food into the trough and they’d go at it like Hungry, Hungry Ostriches. After that it was smooth sailing back to Tucson.

I noticed that as I get more comfortable in my new riding posture, I’m more comfortable riding in the drops. I’m starting to see more speed, too, which is great.

Today was uneventful in the sense i’m getting used to the long rides more. It makes me feel more confident. I feel like I’ve been riding at a certain level for a while now. I’ve been on a plateau and am now slowly moving to a new level.
