Day 37: Kremmling

Distance: 69 avg:12.8

The spot that I camped in last night was spectacular in it’s serenity. What really made it was when nature called in the night, I went outside and the stars were just stunning. Like nothing I’d ever seen before. If I wasn’t in my boxers I would’ve ogled longer.

Making the decision to quit yesterday worked. I powered up to 9600 feet without the headwind which plagued me. Oh and I got some Bengay, mom! I think it worked. the downhill to Hot Sulphur Springs was equally fun. I even enjoyed the truly torrential rain on my way to Kremmling.

But the rain, while an interesting challenge, was not what I wanted to spend the night in. I checked in to a hotel in Kremmling. My room had a spa/jacuzzi style tub. After the rain I relaxed in style.

Tomorrow is potentially terrible weather at a high altitude. We’ll see what’s out the window. If this afternoon’s downpour continues into tomorrow I’m getting some rest. Tuesday’s forecast is bad but Wednesday looks up.

Here’s another interesting bit o’ info from this former rocky mountain dweler – my aunt lives in Hot Sulphur Springs, CO so I’ve been there a lot. Very pretty area! Obviously they snowboard a lot. 😉
