Today was another rest day, and I took good advantage to do very little. I wrote a bit more of Mustaches. My output is low because I keep reading more and more about the time periods and characters.
Today I found out that Henry Rogers, a robber baron of Standard Oil, #31 richest American of all time, secretly funded schools for African-Americans through Booker t. Washington! I’ve got a good angle on how I can work this into the story, too.
I also picked up Teddy Roosevelt and Ben Franklin’s autobiographies. Stanza on the iPhone FTW. Roosevelt is impressive in his ability to vividly build a scene. Great stuff!
I also stopped by a modern art museum here in Pueblo. They had some very nice pieces. My favorites were probably the Chuck Close ‘Phil/Unedited’ and an artist named Vance Kirkland. Oh and an up and coming contemporary had some pieces for sale. Her name was Ann Yaeger. Her work was this clean, geometric hyperrealism. Which is probably what you’d guess I’d be obsessive over. I debated over buying one, but my heart is set on a Martin Parr print. Someday.
So today my entry is all artsy fartsy. I did go to art school, sometimes that leaks out. 🙂
