Day 44: Eads

Distance: 56 avg: 12.4

I bought a couple non-essential items today. I might as well strap a kitchen to my bike and be done with it. Earlier I was in a ‘restaurant’ with some fellow cyclists. One of them was eating a chicken fried piece of shit. They had pummelled it so thin that it lost a dimension. My point being that when I can cook better food than ‘professional’ establishments, I wonder how non-essential this equipment is. It could just save my life.

It was a frying pan and a sea salt grinder. Steak and veggies. Best meal on the road yet.

I met these guys at the restaurant and had a good ole time bullshitting about bikes and whatever. But these guys are pretty intense. They’re biking supported and marathoning it. They’re pushing 120 miles a day! Awesome. So Sam, Jere, Josh and Tim, it was cool meeting you guys! Enjoy yourself!

So my riding is much slower than them, but I don’t have a sag blocking the crosswind. Pft, wimps! 😉 but not much to tell about Kansas….I mean Colorado. Tomorrow is Kansas officially, but really it feels like it started a couple days ago. Flat. Windy. Did I say flat? Hmmm…maybe that explains the chicken fried steak….

  1. East CO is flat.. blegh. Unfortunately, I think you’re in for a bunch of that for a while… Midwest fun fun!! :o) Maybe there will be some corn you can snack on…erg.. actually, I think they all just planted it.

    Sorry!

Sounds like you’re having a great adventure, Chris!

I miss your cooking. I’m wasting away here eating cereal at every meal! 😛

Sigh…you liberated women have left the kitchen only to realize that cooking is important! Make some asparagus and salmon! 🙂

They grow a lot of grain here, but I’m finding a ridiculous number of cyclists out here. I wonder if they’re grown out here too. True dat about east co! A group I met was calling it West Kansas! 🙂
