Today I hit a new top speed: 42.4 mph. And a new low speed: getting off my bike and walking. These Ozark hills are pretty steep. When I’m going that fast and I go over the crest of a hill I can feel the bike about to leave the asphalt and get some air. 🙂
The scenery is very nice, and it reminds me of camping when I was a kid. The intensity of the hills is pretty tough on my legs. I took sufficient breaks and made it to Ellington within a good time.
Turns out Ellington has a decent supermarket so I was able to get some fresh green beans and a big ribeye for dinner. The best cure for sore legs is a big steak.
A guy who calls himself ‘the crazy preacher’ invited me to church tonight. I politely declined. He says he’s called that because he used to preach on the streets of St. Louis. Instead of saying hi he said ‘praise the lord’. I got a bad vibe off him. He didn’t seem very sincere, and when I dodged his ‘hooks’ he could tell I wasn’t someone he could add to his flock. He immediately changed personality, realizing he couldn’t ‘make the sale’.
Oh! The weather was just ‘hot’ instead of ‘assburner hot’. The morning was quite enjoyable! 🙂
