Day 65: Farmington

Distance: 67 avg: 11.6

I broke camp in Ellington and headed out to Farmington. I found that I didn’t eat enough breakfast and stopped for breakfast two. I sometimes have two breakfasts. I always have two lunches. And then a big dinner. Kinda like the Michael Phelps Diet! 🙂

Today’s interesting stop was Johnson’s Shut-Ins State Park (yes, that really is the name!). There were a lot of locals going swimming somewhere in the park. I just used a picnic table and bought some Gatorade. They had some interesting landscaping going on in the day use area with these giant rocks. It was all a mystery because it seems there are no plaques or rangers to fill me in.

I also met Joe who has a suuuper old moped. It’s a ‘Whizzer’ from 1947 and his grandpa bought it from the Sears-Roebuck catalog! Pretty cool!

Coming in to Farmington I passed through St. joe’s park. It was a scenic road, a great way to end the day. Shady trees and some great downhills.

Before farmington was some of the most impatient asshole truckers of the whole trip. I’ve found that when my ‘driver morale’ is down I can get it back up by waving to all the other drivers. It helps remind me that not all drivers are jerks and most are very courteous. It also helps to have a good charm offensive! 😀

Interesting Rock field. Sorta like Stonehenge, only made by people who couldn’t figure out how to move big rocks, or carve, or…ok maybe it’s not like Stonehenge.
