My first day in Virginia, or should I say Vertical-ginia!! Haha I thought that one up while I was cycling. It took me about 7.5 hours, which is my entire exhausting day. And I mean exhausting. Thank god tomorrow is a rest day.
So I mentioned that I wouldn’t bitch about the hills anymore. But talking about Virginia without mentioning the hills would be like mentioning Michael Jackson and not mentioning paedophilia. Too soon? 🙂
Anyway zomg, the hills!! I saw a turtle going up a hill and he just rolled onto his back. This kept happening, and I had to keep stopping to roll the little guys back over. It gets steeper over the course of the day until at night you’re upside down. I’m typing this on the ceiling of the Montgomery Homestead B&B.
Which is a very nice place. A much better place than ‘the place’ which should be renamed ‘the dump’. ‘the place’ is a pigsty run by the Damascus Methodist Church. I stopped in, took a shower, then realized how bad it was and left. Sure, it was ‘free’, but unless they throw in some tick & lice shampoo i wouldn’t stay there. I biked two blocks and found this B&B which is like staying at my grandma’s, replete with board games. And that’s pretty much what I’m looking for in a B&B.
Virginia is very beautiful, but alas today’s cycling was more to get the miles in than to enjoy the countryside. There were some moments, for sure. There was this part that looked like there were dinosaurs that were overgrown with ivy. I know, they weren’t really dinosaurs, because they aren’t real. God just put their bones in the earth to fuck with darwinists. But it LOOKED like dinosaurs covered in ivy, which was cool.
So I biked and got the miles done, which means rest day, hell yeah! Damascus is on the Appalachian trail, and on the transam, so it’s a little granola hotspot. Kinda interesting little place. It has a population of 900 and three bike shops! Something tells me I’ll like it here..

It took you 7.5 hours to come up with “Vertical-ginia”?!? I’d hate to hear the rejects!
I can’t remember the rejects, and for that we are all lucky.
I just had a great hamberger. I made it in my a/c house of 74 degrees. It is 105 in Tucson now. I just tt Ann they have a cabin iu Oregon in a dead zone . It has been cloudy and cold there. The reason I got though is because they went to a town nearby and they had service. The cold water here is hotter than the hot here. Because you are ALL out of town Marion went to the V.A. ER. They think he is dehydrated. I am waiting for him to call with the results. I’ll call you then. Stay safe love XXXOOOXXXMOM.
Typing this on the ceiling of your B&B. Hehe. You’re so silly, mi amor! *smooch* 🙂
Hehe, these bits of silly writing are directly influenced by Mark Twain. I call them ‘Twainisms’ in my head when I’m writing them. I’m sure he’s rolling in his grave! 😛
