As part of my Fizz & Buster series, I made a bunch of sketches during the process. Some were created before and some after as I planned on continuing the project into potentially a larger adventure game. But it didn’t really get off the ground for various reasons. I wanted to flesh out Fizz’s world a bit and create a cast of fun characters that you could interact with.
Fizz & Buster
Our hero Fizz and his space dog Buster travel the Olympus Belt, finding adventure when they least want it! Usually right around suppertime unfortunately. Fizz uses his Flinger to acrobatically navigate in Zero-G. Buster is a dog, in a very loose sense. Not exactly mammalian, possibly part mushroom, Buster is everyone’s best friend.
The Ankh’ora
A race of insectoids that are basically like big ants. They generally stay underground in a vast network of tunnels.
Auntie Mazbel
Maz is the heart of the group. For reasons unexplained, her heart and mind is tied to that of the Belt. Auntie Maz is always in the kitchen. She is a healer, both mentally and physically.
Nova
No one remembers if or how Nova is related to fizz. They’re like a kid sister but not. They are quite protective of Fizz but also generally distracted most of the time and misses most of the battle. Frequently on their phone. The social butterfly of the group.
Hummus
The bond between Hummus and Fizz is nigh unbreakable after Fizz accidentally saved Hummus’ life. Hummus is into all kinds of movies and comics, and when Fizz and Hummus get into it, the sessions can go into the wee hours. Hummus is muscular and vegan, and interjects this information into unrelated conversations frequently.
Zil’kruff
1/64th elder god, Zilth is pretty nihilistic, anarchistic and chaotic, but always seems to hold down a job and pay the bills. Zilth is not in a band, but looks like he is. He doesn’t have tattoos because he’s too indecisive. Most people don’t trust Zilth, but Fizz does, and that’s why he’s part of the gang, and so others accept him.
The Muckborn
Inspired by Gudetama and Ghibli, the Muckborn, a clay-like people who love light and heat.
The Lightfarer Whale
There’s something about space and whales. Whales are big. Space is big. They seem to belong together. The Lightfarer Whale is an interdimensional creature that travels along light streams. They get trapped by The Muckborn inside a hollow asteroid, which Fizz & Buster attempt to free.
