Week 2 definitely upped the difficulty (here is Week 1 btw), but it seems as though it is pretty easy to find things that we can part with. My partner is very much getting into it. She mentioned that this was a good forcing function. There were things she was going to get rid of ‘at some point’ and this has become that point. I feel like I should be taking photos of my drawers of crap before and after. It has really helped me find a way to incorporate decluttering items into my routine. Some items that just faded into the woodwork jump out, and I want to do something about it.
I think I have also had a couple people think that because I’m doing The Minimalist’s game that I’ve now become a ‘minimalist’, whatever that means. I wouldn’t call myself a minimalist, and I’ve never watched Mary Kondo. But there is finite space in my life for objects. And these objects can become a weight, and learning how to remove these things to make space for new ones, or just to make space really, is a skill learned by doing.
Full disclosure: A lot of these items were done in a larger decluttering because we are traveling out of town.

And that’s it for now! Tune in next week for more crap!
