Today was my first day of high altitude climbing. I went up 3500 ft to 7214. I could really feel the effect of the thin air. My speed was low and the uphills tough. I felt lightheaded and fought a light headache part of the day. Later on I hit a new speed record: 39.8!
Even when days are tough it’s still great fun to be on the road. Right now I’m in Antler’s Saloon in a town called Wisdom. I enjoy listening to the locals talk about fixing engines and driving cattle.
I’m staying tonight in Wisdom’s American Legion Memorial Park. The stomach flu and the high altitude has me feeling ready to crash. I’m getting some food at the saloon before I go to sleep.
